We went through Ouyen, stopping at the Mallee Route.
A day of travel sees us stopping for the night at the Waikerie Hotel, in Waikerie South Australia, short of our target of Burra. A long day on the road and a couple of stops here and there saw us lose a bit of time. However a good feed and a few West End Draughts have seen us coming good. Some of the issues of the day included:
Trailer or Toyota? A sudden loss of power from the new Leighto Hilux saw us stopping and raising the bonnet just out of Pinaroo, SA. Foot flat to the floor in 1st gear but not going anywhere is not good! The Chuckwagon trailer has had a massive pull-through, but could it be fighting back? Chucks lights weren't working, but when the lead was pulled out the Hi-lux was restored to full power...hopefully just a little glitch.
When is rain rain? When is it 'raining'? Do you know? Uncle Gary made the classic 'Its not going to rain' statement as we headed west out of Ouyen and the skies got blacker. As a drop came down and then some more, wipers came on and it got darker, discussion on the two-way centred around the call: 'Is it raining?' Why worry you might say...well as boys do some boys had a bet about whether it would rain or not. It was certainy wet and swags and some of our gear is wet, but did it rain? The BOM conveniently doesn't have a definition of rain, but the interweb says that rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapour and precipitated. More discussion tomorrow probably!
